A selection of works made during a series of excursions and residencies within the Turtle Swamp Wetlands, Canaipa (Russell) Island, as part of the Canaipa Mudlines Art and Environment project. The Melomy's and Shorelines and Watermouse galleries also document work made as part of this project.
Canaipa mudlines emerged from the final iteration of Lines in the Sand, art and environment residency and festival that had grown since 2011 on Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island. Canaipa (Russell) Island became the new site for monthly excursions into the intriguing landscape of the largest of the South Moreton Bay islands (apart form Minjerribah). The project is non-funded and entirely independent. For further insights into our work, visit the Canaipa Mudlines website
